FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions that we receive. We've attempted to supply you with the very best answer possible, but if you still have questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call!

01

What is Speech Therapy?

Speech therapy is the diagnosis and treatment of communication and/or swallowing difficulties. Speech therapy can remediate speech, language, oral motor and feeding delays.

02

Why does my child have a speech and/or language problem?

Your child's difficulties may be due to a history of ear infections, or as a part of another condition (Autism, Down's Syndrome, dyspraxia, hearing loss, etc.). In some cases, the cause may be unknown.

Will my child outgrow this problem without help?

If your child is having difficulties, he/she probably will not 'grow out of it'. Without the proper, skilled speech-language therapy, your child's speech could fall further behind as he/she gets older. The best thing to do is to contact a certified Speech-Language Pathologist to have an evaluation completed to determine the severity of the delay and prognosis.

04

How long will my child be in therapy?

Treatment length is determined on a case-by-case basis and depends on the severity of the disorder and the carryover of treatment strategies.

05

Where are the therapy sessions conducted?

All of our sessions are held in the patient's natural environment: the home or daycare, which leads to better therapeutic success.
